Summary
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School seeks a responsible, energetic and nurturing individual who has experience in the early childhood. Pre-K teacher aides provide support to teachers leading a pre-k program. They indulge in handling children aged between 3 and 5 years by adapting classroom activities for the purpose of reinforcing classroom goals and objectives. They assist teachers in handling individual students and groups of students by imparting lessons. They assist young students with assignments and also manage student behavior within a classroom.
To work as a pre-k aide, one must be good with children aged between 3 and 5. One must be able to handle temper tantrums and assist children in handling their personal needs such as toileting and washing.

Pay Rate: depending on education & experience
Reports To: School Principal
Work Year: 2025-2026
School days: Aug. - May with some additional training days
Specific Days Needed: M, T, W, Th, F (any one or more)
Min./Max. Hours per week: 40
Job Hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (additional hours maybe added for meetings, etc)

Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year B.A./B.S. Degree
- State Teacher Certification in appropriate grade level
- Three years teaching experience; early childhood experience preferred
- Catechist certification
- Safe Haven training
Essential Functions
- Assist lead teachers in planning, developing and implementing age appropriate curriculum.
- Provide support to teachers in devising and imparting lesson plans on a daily basis.
- Set up interest centers and prepare instructional material such as flash cards and cutouts.
- Supervise students within the classroom and during recreational activities.
- Provide an environment of comfort and security for young students by indulging in nurturing behavior.
- Distribute and collect workbooks and worksheets and assist students in their assignments.
- Guide independent study and handle remedial work activities.
- Assist students during lunchtime, toileting and washing activities.
- Enforce cleanup activities after lunchtime by modeling appropriate behavior.
- Observe students for changes in behavior and report findings to lead teacher.
- Assist lead teacher in evaluating students and writing down assessments.
- Supervise students during field trips to make-certain their safety and wellbeing.
- Organize and supervise physical education programs during school time.
- Handle student record keeping, filing and photocopying activities.
- Supervise and impart instruction to students in the absence of the class teacher.
- Provide one-on-one support to young students such as helping them write their names or learning initial counting.

- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents in person.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for long periods of time
- Walk long distances across campus as well as within classroom
- Use hands to handle or manipulate tools of teaching (technology, textbooks, student work, chalkboard/whiteboard)

Additional Job Functions
- Maintain classroom order and behavioral management to ensure the safety of the classroom.
- Participates in curriculum and staff development programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level, and participates in programs and activities that are provided by the school.
- Attend all in-service days required.
