Bookkeeper

About the Position
The Bookkeeper reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer of Vocation Ministry and is responsible for maintaining accurate financials records and reports, developing and overseeing budget, and performing transactional duties.

Key Responsibilities

~Perform bill payment and create customer invoices
~Maintain accuracy of all financial transactions and reporting
~Verify and record entries into accounting system
~Reconciliation of accounts and bank statements
~Inventory Control: Coordinate with fulfillment center to maintain appropriate inventory
~Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
~Prepare budget with COO, including evaluating the needs of each department, and monitoring variances
~Coordinate with and provide information to CPA for tax preparation and filing

Qualifications & Experience

Vocation Ministry seeks applicants who are highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, have strong written and oral communication skills, and have a deep commitment to our mission and work. The candidate should be a strong team player who can also work independently.

As the ideal candidate you will also have:
~Minimum three years of accounting experience
~Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
~Experience with nonprofit accounting and taxes
~Robust understanding accounting best practices
~High attention to detail
~Produce work with high level of accuracy
~Professionalism and strong organization skills

Hours/Salary/Benefits
~20-25 hours per week.
~Flexible hours.
~Work from home with quarterly in-person meetings. candidate should reside in Texas and within a short driving distance to the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
~Salary commensurate with experience.
