Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Coordinator of Sacred Music (CSM) will serve as the primary organist and choir director. CSM will provide music for Saturday 4:00 pm, Sunday 8:00 am and 10:00 am Masses . Provide music for these parish liturgies: First Friday Adoration, funerals, weddings, Christmas, the Triduum, Christmas Concert, Solemnities and Holy days of obligation. CSM will Meet with families and assist them to select songs for funerals and weddings. If CSM is unable to meet this responsibility, he/she will be responsible for arranging a substitute. CSM oversees all administrative duties of the parish sacred music program to include fulfilling the reporting requirements for copyright licenses. Proposes sacred music program operational budgets; Directs, recruits, rehearses parish choir and work with cantors to prepare for liturgies. Attend all liturgy and staff meetings.
Collaborates with parochial Administrator, and all members of liturgical team for seasonal liturgical planning, is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the scripts for the celebration of the Triduum and updating as necessary; Collaborates with the parochial Administrator to enhance congregational singing at all Masses; Works to educate and enhance the parish's singing of hymns, contemporary worship songs and plain chant; Organizes musical elements for liturgies outside of Masses. Weekly time commitment includes all administrative duties, emails, music planning, research and study, practice time, rehearsals for regular and special Masses, and special programs related to parish-sponsored ministries; Is responsible for the maintenance of all musical instruments at St, Steven's.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- Bachelor’s Degree in sacred music preferably, but any certification in music will be accepted.
- Good leadership skills,
- is comfortable playing the organ and can work with other musicians.
- Familiarity and experience with the Catholic liturgy,
- Knowledge of contemporary songs, choral music, plain chant in English and Latin, as well as English hymnody.
-The coordinator of Sacred music must meet all the requirements mandated by the Diocese of Phoenix regulations for Child Protection and vulnerable adults. Background check and safe environment training as required of all parish employees and volunteers.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
