About: St. Frances Cabrini Parish & School, is a Roman Catholic Church and co-educational PK – 12 grade school, within the Archdiocese of Detroit, in Allen Park, Michigan. Founded in 1946, St. Frances Cabrini Parish has 1,500 parish families and 555 students.

Goal: The High School & Academy Science & Technology Teacher is responsible for helping students learn and improve their knowledge and understanding of science and positively impacting their learning and well-being.
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Cabrini High School & Academy Principal
Essential Functions & Duties
- Collaborating with other science department staff to develop lesson plans, teaching strategies, and interventions.
- Preparing students for formal and informal assessments.
- Assessment of students both formative and summative, project based learning, and developing positive and proactive partnership with parents, students, teachers, and counselors regarding the well-being and best interest of each student.
- Keeping abreast of current events and incorporating these events and themes into lessons to make them more relevant to students.
- Ensuring all curriculum and school requirements are met.
- Assessing student needs (academic, emotional, learning disabilities, etc.) and providing support or extra resources to struggling students as well as exceptional achievers.
- Using technology to improve lesson delivery and recordkeeping.
- Expanding teacher networks and participating in workshops, lectures, and other learning opportunities.
- Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certification or ability to acquire on upon application.
- Bachelor’s degree in science in secondary education with DI, DX, DP, or DC (at least one minimum) endorsement.
- Compassion, understanding, and excellent communication and interpretation skills.
- All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. Prior to beginning work, all staff must attend Protecting God’s Children, and complete a background check/finger printing.
