Responsibilities:
** This job is eligible for a $2,000 hiring incentive**
The Early Learning Specialist is responsible for an assigned caseload of 6-14 families, with children 18 months thru 4 years of age. Delivering homebased services twice weekly, the Early Learning Specialist's role is to deliver educational books and toys and model behaviors that empower parents to promote the development of the verbal, cognitive, and social-emotional skills that are critical for children’s school readiness and long-term school success. Duties Include: travel to families’ homes throughout Onondaga County for the visits;
Participate in weekly staff meetings, as well as individual supervision meetings and professional development opportunities as they are offered.
Assists site coordinator with recruitment of families. Attend networking/community events. Complete developmental screenings – record data and refer to community resources based on needs. Data collection completed with attention to detail and punctuality in reporting as required by the ParentChild+ Program and Catholic Charites of Onondaga County. They will attend weekly staff meetings, individual supervision meetings, and maintain compliance with funding source guidelines and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
This Position is Full Time at 35 hours a week and Starting Pay For This Position Is: $18.50/ Hour
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with up to 2 years of experience working with young children and/or families, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience may include daycare, in-home childcare, nanny, or former program participant.
- Knowledge of child development and familiarity with community resources.
- Home visiting experience preferred.
- Bilingual/multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to share language, life experiences, culture, and community with the families.
- Basic computer skills
- Specialized training or coursework related to the position.
Licenses/Certifications/Clearances:
- Valid NYS Driver’s License,
- registered and insured vehicle,
- NYS Child Abuse Registry Clearance.
- Clearance from the Office of Mental Health.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
- Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at clients' homes and/or community facilities that may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals. Manual dexterity sufficient to work with children/adults in a challenging and active environment.
