GENERAL SUMMARY
A Driver/Mover with St. Matthew’s House is a professional and customer service-oriented position. Duties include the safe operation of St. Matthew's House trucks and equipment. Driver/Movers are responsible for the removal, loading and unloading of donated items, and ensuring that they remain undamaged and placed in the correct position and location. The position requires the ability to effectively communicate the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of St. Matthew's House to the community. We operate in a safety-oriented, faith-based team environment that emphasizes organization, teamwork, compassion, efficiency, and excellent customer service. St. Matthew’s House is faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License
- Must always maintain a high level of customer service, including (but not limited to) safety, courtesy, and positive communication; ensure other team members are doing the same.
- Have the ability to safely handle large box trucks and be able to maneuver the trucks in and out of tight areas.
- Must be trustworthy, work well in a team environment, and maintain a neat, professional appearance. The ability to work safely and cooperatively in a variety of situations with a variety of customers is essential.
- Driver-movers must be able to lift and carry more than 75lbs up and down stairs for extended periods of time.
- Will be required to follow proper moving, packing, loading and all other procedures as trained by Senior Lead Driver or Fleet Manager.
- Must be able to plan the most efficient way to pack items into a truck, warehouse bay or loading dock/zone.
- Ensure that items are not damaged while moving by wrapping in protective material and loading, packing, and unloading with care.
- Some overtime and holiday work may be required.
Employment Terms:
Employment Status: This is a temporary position with a set end date of March 14, 2025.
Bonuses:
Sign-On Bonus: You will receive a one-time sign-on bonus of $500, which will be paid to you after successful completion of 90 days of continuous employment with St. Matthew's House. This offer is available if you are hired by December 1st.
Retention Bonus: If you remain employed with St. Matthew's House, in this position, through March 14, 2025, you will be eligible to receive an additional bonus of $1,000. To qualify, you must be hired by December 1st.
THIS POSITION OFFERS 4-DAY WORK WEEK.

Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Minimum 1-year trucking, moving, and customer service experience (or related experience) essential.
Travel Demands: Flexibility in work hours; this position requires some overtime.
Confidentiality: Works with confidential information.
Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry more than 75lbs up and down stairs for extended periods of time in all seasons. Must have stamina to perform manual duties that often require strength.
Working Areas: Warehouses, trucks, and donor pickup sites including businesses and private homes
Driver Requirements: All St. Matthew’s House Retail Operations driving position holders must not have the following disqualifying incidents on their MVR:
- More than two moving violations in the last three years
- More than one at fault incident in the last three years
- Any serious violations in the last three years, including:
- Using false or fictitious registration, plates, or Driver’s License
- Leaving the scene of an accident
- Driving on a suspended license
- Murder or assault with a motor vehicle
- Theft of a motor vehicle or related incidents
- Or the following in the last five years:
- Driving under the influence
- Reckless driving resulting in bodily injury or death
- Negligent homicide
- Any repeated pattern of multiple offenses in driving record.
