Position Overview
The Director of Programs is responsible for the planning, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of all programs and services offered by Sacred Heart Center(SHC). The Director will lead a team of program coordinators and staff, ensuring that services are delivered effectively and align with the organization’s strategic goals. Additionally, the Director will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other organizational leaders to develop and expand program offerings based on community needs and available resources.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of Programs is responsible for the operational success of SHC programs that serve adults, children, youth, and families, ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation.
This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
- Supervise and oversee all Center programs, working closely with SHC Executive Director and program staff
- Supervise SHC program staff and volunteers, ensuring that quality programs are delivered to the community in alignment with the SHC mission, goals of the organization, and organizational values
- In consultation with the SHC Executive Director, recruit, interview, select, and train well-qualified program staff
- Ensure that all programs, staff, and volunteers are operating according to relevant policies and procedures
- Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
- Develop, implement, and oversee, in collaboration with the Executive Director and program staff, community programs that address the community’s needs and support the strategic direction of the SHC.
- Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcomes of the programs, along with relevant evaluation tools and frameworks necessary to track progress
- Assist the Executive Director with the development and creation of the annual budget for all programs, with input from program staff
- Monitor and manage the budgets and budget expenses of SHC programs
- Complete all required reports as designated by funding sources
- Communicate with program participants and other stakeholders to gain community support for the programs and to solicit input to improve the programs

- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with representatives from various community organizations and stakeholders
- Represents SHC at community meetings and events, building networks and alliances, while increasing the organization’s visibility in the community, and focusing on constant improvement of current relationships with organizations and affiliations.
- Identify collaboration opportunities with other organizations to expand the reach and impact of the programs.
- Working with the Executive Director and Development Director, identify and seek additional sources of funding for new programs
- Assist the Executive Director and Development Director in identifying funding opportunities and collaborate on grant writing proposals and reports.
- Working with the Executive Director and Development Director, assist in organizing the Center’s fundraising events and in procuring community support
- Working with the Executive Director and program staff, maintain positive media relations and SHC’s media marketing efforts
Other Tasks
- Act as the organization’s Language Access Liaison, providing oversight and implementation for SHC’s Language Access Plan.
- Perform additional duties designated by the Executive Director to meet the mission of the SHC.
- Work as part of a high-performing team with all SHC staff, Board, volunteers, and partners to accomplish overall organizational goals.

Experience And Attributes
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual with team management experience to grow and further develop programs that are positively impacting our community. The successful candidate will manage programs, partner with the ED and other leadership staff, and work collaboratively with the SHC program staff. Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to our mission and to our values of compassion, inclusion, equity, and collaboration, and have related experience, including:
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 4-5 years of experience with program management, human services, or other related experience
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, bicultural
- Strength in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams
- Deep understanding of human resources, employee performance work plans, and evaluation
- Strong program management skills and experience in managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth
- Demonstrated success in developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs
- Highly organized, analytical, IT-competent – proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Apricot.
- Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool and experience working with staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, a strong customer service focus, excellent follow-up, and an ability to work with diverse groups in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to connect with others and forge strong relationships
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to organize and maintain detailed records; complete the necessary paperwork and meet deadlines
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for SHC’s mission
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to work flexible a schedule, including occasional weekends, is preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with experience, full-time position with benefits
