SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing all aspects of children's emergency shelter to include daily operations, budgeting, quality assurance, collaboration, and staff supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Manages all aspects of Children's Shelter in accordance with licensing standards and Department of Health and Human Services requirements.
Directly supervises and evaluates capabilities of staff to achieve program goals.
Conducts staff meetings and individual supervision on a regular basis.
Develops and monitors procedures in compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements.
Encourages program development and innovations as needed.
Prepares budgets and monitors program expenses.
Interprets agency policy and explains program standards and goals as needed to staff, government officials and general public.
Ensures daily activities for children and staff scheduling is maintained appropriately
Provides on-call coverage as assigned
Provides all reports as requested/required by DHHS
Maintains and develops working relationships with external agencies/programs.
Organizes and/or conducts training as per DHHS requirements or staff development programs.
Promotes staff professional growth through established training requirements.
Investigates and follows up on all CPS complaints as required.
Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.
Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.
Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in social work (school has to be accredited), counseling or psychology plus a combination of two years professional experience with children, in a children's residential facility and in administration or supervision; baccalaureate degree in social work (school has to be accredited), counseling or psychology plus a combination of three years professional experience with children, in a children's residential facility and in administration or supervision; or a baccalaureate degree plus a combination of four years professional experience with children, in a children's residential facility and in administration or supervision.
