Director of Evangelization and Communications Job Overview: : The Director of Evangelization and Communications promotes and spreads the
Catholic faith at St. Vincent de Paul Parish. He/she evangelizes through teaching the
faith to all ages and backgrounds. He/she is responsible for communicating parish
events to all parishioners via print and digital media. He/she reports to the Pastor for
direction and guidance in these efforts.
Hours:
- Full-time
- Some evening work hours, occasional weekend hours
o Must be present Friday 6:30-8PM for “Elevate” young adult group
o Flexible daytime hours available
- Some remote work possible
Responsibilities and Duties: Evangelization
- Bilingual Young Adult Group Leader (Elevate)
o Provide content for weekly Friday meetings with young adults
Leading prayer, giving talks, running icebreaker games, directing
small group discussions
o Help create yearly plan of prayer meetings, catechesis, service projects, and
social events
o Coordinate and collaborate with Pastor as well as parish priests in the
administration of the group
- Religious Education Support
o Assist in volunteer catechist formation
Includes offering a faith formation talk 2-3 times per year
o Support religious education parent catechesis program
Coordinating volunteer support
Offering occasional talks at these events
o Aid RCIA director
Translation services for one-on-one meetings
Help teach weekly classes as needed
- Safe Environment Director
o Order background checks on employees and volunteers
Verify accuracy of background check results
o Send notices to users that need safe environment training
o Manage active user profiles and archive inactive profiles
o Assist parish volunteers with any questions
o Ensure that all parish volunteers who work with children have
“Approved” certification status
- Other Evangelization Areas
o Recommending potential evangelization opportunities in Spanish and
English
Communications
- Website - Parish, School, Cemetery
- Website - Parish, School, Cemetery
o Update Content o Feast Days, Parish Events, Special Announcements, etc.
o Perform routine maintenance/troubleshooting as needed
o Coordinate with heads of departments for necessary updates
o Develop a social media presence
o Advertise parish events
o Promote Diocesan events
o Post links to orthodox Catholic content
o Redevelop and then maintain Vincent Hall Lobby area
o Updating flyers, pamphlets, and signs
o Cleaning out clutter that appears in lobby
o Receiving and publishing content from various departments (school,
RCIA, religious education, etc.)
o Create posters for key parish events (coordinate with Pastor for this)
o Assist parish ministries in creating signs for their events
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic, fluent in Spanish and English
- Thorough understanding of the Catholic faith
- Ability and readiness to teach others about the faith
- Professional demeanor with ability to respect confidentiality (re: Safe
Environment Coordinator)
- Self-motivated, patient, team-player, and desire to serve others
- Computer skills Competent with graphic design and printing, ability to make posters and
flyers
o Knowledgeable and proficient with a variety of social media platforms
including but not limited to: Facebook, X, WhatsApp
o Readiness to design and edit websites
o Familiarity and comfortability working within the Google Suite
o Ability to navigate ParishSoft
o Including but not limited to: use of copy machine, scanning and sending
documents
o Graduate degree in theology preferred
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of materials (for classroom set up, ministry
support, basic office tasks, etc)
- Must have focus and concentration to work on assignments
- Sufficient vocal strength to teach and command the attention of a classroom
- Able to stand while teaching a catechesis session (30-60 minutes)
