Position Description
The Director of Advancement Services is a strategic leader on the Advancement team. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Director of Advancement Services will work collaboratively with all departments to define, plan, and implement Advancement Service strategies to support and advance the philanthropic, stewardship, and constituent engagement goals of the college.
Together with the Advancement Services team (this role’s direct reports), the Director of Advancement Services will oversee and interpret advancement data and reporting through Raiser’s Edge and other software. The successful candidate will understand fundraising, charitable giving, and have proven success in the implementation and the streamlining of processes. This individual must excel at meeting deadlines, leveraging technology and communicating data insights, providing managerial oversight, and maintaining their workload in a fast-paced environment.

- Oversee data management and analytics in The Raiser’s Edge NXT database, FPM, GiveCampus, MarketSmart and other software used in the Advancement Department.
- Perform donor prospect research, data mining, and analysis of data to produce a robust pipeline of prospective donors
- Provide strategy and reports for relationship management, donor pipeline development, and effective moves management
- Provide managerial oversight to the Advancement Services team who execute detailed entries into the donor database (Raiser’s Edge NXT)
- Assist the Advancement Services team to execute gift recording and acknowledgments, financial reconciliation, biographical data maintenance, prospect tracking, reporting, budget management, data insertion and extraction, list production, and database software support
- Work collaboratively with all members of the advancement team. Serve as the primary liaison with the Business office to ensure timely and accurate charitable gift reconciliation
- Serve as a key advisor to the Vice President of Advancement on strategic planning
- Assist with Events as assigned including lists, reporting, attendance and research
- Build reports and integrations between various software systems to maintain accurate data across platforms.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Exhibit mastery in data queries and manipulation of raw data, creating custom reports and queries. Produce guest lists and mailing lists.

Qualifications
- High degree of analytical skill coupled with effective communication skills
- A demonstrated track record of adapting to and leveraging recent technologies, using constituent relationship management systems, creating interpreted reports, and collaborating with colleagues to understand their functional goals and needs
- Excellent at meeting deadlines and thriving in a fast-paced and data-driven environment
- Ability to develop strategy, provide direction and mentorship, and lead implementation of short and long-term plans
- Highly organized and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met promptly
- Ability to effectively translate between user and database output. Must be able to understand various departmental needs to accurately translate their requests into effective queries and reports
- Knowledge of charitable giving, applicable tax laws, the fund-raising process, and general understanding of non-profit accounting
- Advanced knowledge and skill in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge 7/NXT, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
- Professionalism, discretion, and the judgment to appropriately handle confidential information
