You must receive a GA position before being enrolled in any MBA courses; once you have been enrolled in any MBA courses you are no longer eligible to receive a GA position.
* Individuals must be accepted into the Benedictine College graduate program in order to be selected for Graduate Assistant positions. Furthermore, individuals must remain in good-standing in the graduate program in order to continue in the GA position.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Graduate Assistant for Recreational Services is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Murphy Recreation Center, Intramural Sports and Events. The GA is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Benedictine College, the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart), and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Benedictine College is a member of the NAIA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Checking the operational status of equipment in the recreation center weight room area,
- Helping maintain the equipment located in the multi-purpose rooms, front desk check-out area, items on the turf, and all intramural equipment,
- Inventory of all equipment and assisting in purchasing and placing new equipment orders as well as equipment maintenance,
- Employee training regarding the operation and guidelines of the recreation center and the intramural program,
- Intramural event observations and personnel evaluations,
- All communication with intramural team captains, and participants,
- Playing surface/field prep,
- Set-up coordination of special events in the Murphy Recreation Center, Ralph Nolan Gymnasium and Haverty Gymnasium,
- Visible, fully integrated member of the College community,
- Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations of the NAIA as it relates to the sports information department,
- Assisting with setup and staffing for all athletic home events,
- Represent Benedictine College and the department in a professional manner, and
- Responsible for being a proponent of the NAIA Champions of Character Program.
