Regional Associate Superintendent of Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic Schools
The Archdiocese of Detroit is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven individual to join our team as an Associate Superintendent for Catholic Schools. This role is vital in supporting the Superintendent in achieving the mission of our Catholic schools. The successful candidate will serve as a delegate of the Superintendent, executing responsibilities in alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church, the goals and objectives of the Department of Catholic Schools, and archdiocesan policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Superintendent in the overall mission and vision of Catholic education within the Archdiocese of Detroit.
- Perform duties in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church and archdiocesan policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective Catholic school leadership.
- Support curriculum development and program evaluation initiatives.
- Foster leadership development among school administrators and educators.
- Facilitate organizational change and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Supports collaborative relationships with Designated Priests and Principals of assigned region of schools.
- Work in collaboration with school leadership to troubleshoot school issues.
- Assist in onboarding and supporting new administrative leaders.
- Serve as Department of Catholic Schools representative on appointed committees.
- Assist Superintendent in building relationships with school administration, designated clergy, and school communities.
- Serves as primary contact person for assigned schools.
- Regularly visits assigned schools throughout the academic school year and as necessary.
Curriculum Development and Instructional Support:
- Innovate and enhance curriculum for assigned schools, ensuring it meets the highest standards.
- Oversee and support the effective implementation of curriculum at both elementary and secondary levels.
- Collaborate on assessment programs and approve school calendar changes.
- Guide and mentor new principals and oversee school accreditation processes for regional locations.
Data Analysis and Accountability:
- Track and analyze key data points to ensure school sustainability and growth.
- Craft strategic plans driven by school performance metrics.
- Engage donors and supporters, showcasing the impact of our schools.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must be a faithful, practicing Catholic in good standing and an active member of a parish community, is engaged in the sacramental and prayer life of the Church, and upholds the Church’s teaching on all matters, especially relating to the education and formation of young people.
- Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or related field.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in school leadership.
- Teaching and/or administrative experience in Catholic schools preferred.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and instructional practices.
- Valid administrative certification/license.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills.
- Strong communication, public-speaking, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and educational technology.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged sitting and computer use.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and perform some standing, bending, and walking.
Travel and Additional Requirements:
- Travel within the Archdiocese of Detroit
- A willingness to work occasional nights and weekends.
