Position Rational: The Junior High Science Teacher will provide exceptional instruction in the content area of science, supervise a homeroom (grade 7 or 8) of approximately 20-25 students, and perform other teacher-minister responsibilities for Gesu Catholic School, a PreK-8 Catholic Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence and Ohio Designated STEM School. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing Diocese of Cleveland/Ohio Department of Education approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. The Junior High Science teacher is a member of the junior high team with 8 full-time teachers. The teacher will provide daily instruction in seventh and eighth grade science during six approximately 45-minute classes. The teacher is provided a daily planning period where the students will be taught electives by teachers in Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, Library, Spanish, Entrepreneurship, or various other electives. Additional support is provided to the teacher from the Intervention Assistance Team, STREAM Director, Technology Director, parish staff, school office staff and School Administration. The teacher will also manage the resources and schedule of the shared science lab.
Licensure Required: Ohio Middle Childhood 4-9 with a Focus in Science, Adolescent Young Adult Science 7-12 or K-8 License additional ODE certification or endorsements are a plus.
