Purpose and Scope
To support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission to Encounter the Living Christ, this position is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and improvement of our two primary websites: DHX.org for the Diocese of Phoenix and the CatholicSun.org, where we share news, events and relevant contents for Catholics throughout our diocese.
This role will work on the complete re-build of both websites, alongside a third-party vendor and make sure our website content is up-to-date, user-friendly, and aligned with the diocese's core mission and ongoing initiatives. The Website Manager will collaborate with various diocesan offices to support digital marketing efforts and enhance the online user experience.
Essential Job Functions

•Content Management: Manage and update website content, including text, images, videos, and documents, ensuring accuracy and relevance. Key is maintaining multi-lingual websites.
•User Experience (UX): Enhance the user experience by designing and implementing intuitive navigation, responsive design, and engaging content.
•Analytics and Reporting: Monitor website traffic and user behavior using tools such as Google Analytics; generate reports and provide insights to inform strategy.
•Digital Marketing Support: Work with the social media / digital marketing team to develop and execute digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media, and online advertising.
•Training and Support: Provide training and support to internal diocesan offices on updating web pages, using CMS, and best practices to keep web pages useful to users and consistent with diocesan content and brand standards.
•Project Management: Key near-term projects will be managing a third-party website design company to redesign both DPHX.org and CatholicSun.org. Ensure new features are implemented, and timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
•Technical Oversight: Collaborate with IT and web developers to resolve technical issues, implement new features, and ensure website security.
•Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Implement and monitor search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to improve website visibility and ranking on search engines.
•Compliance and Standards: Ensure the website complies with legal, accessibility, and regulatory standards.
Additional Job Functions
•Performs any other job-related functions necessary to ensure the smooth flow of the operations within the Diocese Communications Office; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
•Education: Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, or a related field.
•Experience: Proven experience as a Website Manager, Webmaster, or similar role, preferably within a large organization.
•Technical Skills: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress.
•SEO Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEO principles and tools.
•Analytics: Experience with web analytics tools like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other relevant platforms.
•Design Skills: Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
•Project Management: Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
•Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
•Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications
•Strong literacy of social media tools and trend
•Knowledge of web hosting and server management.
•Knowledge of DNS
•Experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
•Familiarity with website accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Work Environment
•This job operates in a professional office environment.
•This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
•May require occasional evening or weekend to address urgent issues or launch new features.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, this position would require lifting, moving, holding and carrying video equipment, and frequent bending or standing, as necessary.
