Purpose and Scope
Under the general supervision of the Preschool Director, the Preschool Aide is dedicated to advancing the goals of Catholic education. This role involves taking on leadership responsibilities, collaborating with the preschool team, and fostering a supportive learning and social environment. The aide assesses each student's needs, contributes to the development and oversight of various areas, monitors and reports on student progress, and builds positive relationships within the school community. Additionally, the aide is committed to ongoing professional development and will perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in daily classroom activities, including educational and recreational programs.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
- Help with setting up and cleaning up activities, including art projects and snack times.
- Provide individual and small group support to students, fostering their development and addressing their needs.
- Engage with children in a warm and caring manner, reinforcing Catholic values and teachings.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, offering updates on their child’s progress and well-being.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
- Any other tasks assigned by administration.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool or educational setting.
- Understanding of and commitment to Catholic teachings and values.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students.
