The Accounting Associate position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Diocese of Harrisburg’s financial system. Accounting associates are responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and performing other accounting duties such as accounts payable and accounts receivable. This position works hand-in-hand with the 89 parishes, 32 schools, agencies and ministries throughout the 15 Counties of the Diocese.
A. Role and Responsibilities
As an Accounting Associate, you will primarily be responsible for providing support for the day-to-day accounting activities of the organization. Your main responsibilities will include:
· Performing reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts
· Recording and maintaining financial transactions
· Assisting in the preparation of financial reports
· Assisting in the budgeting and forecasting processes
· Assisting in the preparation of audit schedules
· Assisting in the preparation and filing of tax returns
· Running and reviewing various financial reports
· Communicating with vendors and clients regarding financial transactions
Moreover, an accounting associate’s contributions help in budgeting as they provide the necessary inputs for forecasting financial performance. They also play a crucial role in internal audits, regulatory compliance, and maintaining an adequate system of internal controls.

· A minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting or a related field
