Job Description:
The Youth Minister plans, develops, implements, and evaluates all aspects of the parish's youth and young adult ministry programs, including: children's youth group (grades 3-5), junior high youth group (grades 6-8), high school youth group (grades 9-12), and the young adults group (ages 18-35). The Youth Minister also assists the Director of Catechesis and Evangelization with the high school Confirmation program and serves as the liaison for the Ablaze campus clubs on the high school and college campuses.
Responsibilities:

Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate all aspects of the children's youth ministry, junior high youth ministry, high school youth ministry, and the young adult ministry programs, under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Catechesis and Evangelization, the Associate Pastors, and Pastor.
Assist the Director of Catechesis and Evangelization with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the high school Confirmation program, in conjunction with the Associate Pastors and Pastor.
Plan and coordinate events and activities (e.g., field trips, retreats, community service projects, social gatherings, etc.) and incorporate youth into various parish ministries and events.
Recruit, form, direct, and evaluate youth ministry volunteers and teen core group leaders.
Ensure implementation of diocesan policies and practices (e.g., all volunteers within program jurisdiction are safe environment cleared, attendance records are up to date and organized safe environment classes and records are complete and organized).
Develop and maintain a departmental budget and track expenditures/transactions.
Develop and implement fundraisers for youth ministry activities, with the approval of the Director and the Pastor.
Develop positive relationships with volunteers, students, and parents.
Generate communications for social media platforms in collaboration with the Parish Communications Director; maintain email and office hours.
Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations, etc.)
Display a Christ-like approach to life and prayer for young people in the Church and community.
Encourage and foster the spiritual growth of the youth of the parish.
Maintain and organize all youth ministry facilities, spaces, and equipment.
Oversee all aspects of youth ministry hospitality, including monthly shopping for snacks and meals, coordinating monthly youth group dinners, and maintaining hospitality inventory in the youth center.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualification and Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Arts in Catholic Theology, Catechesis, or similar field, or equivalent experience
Must be a fully initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Given the nature of the position and the role it plays within the parish, one must be a practicing Catholic in good standing who is living within the teachings of the Catholic Church. This position is considered a Catholic faith "minister" for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno.
3 years or more experience in working with youth.
Previous youth ministry experience is an advantage.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus but not required
