Lumen Christi Catholic School is currently accepting applications for a kitchen assistant.
This position involves assisting the food service director with various kitchen duties as well as assisting with various clerical and computer tasks.
- Record-keeping of information into the food service software
- Assist with implementation of a new food service software
- Assist with gathering and inputting monthly data to various governmental agencies
- Communicating and following up with families with account questions and arrearages
- Assist with other record-keeping and document retention as required by the State/Federal School Nutrition Program (SNP)
- Assist with maintaining a sanitized kitchen, cafeteria, dish room and service area.
- Proper cutting and measurement and portioning of food to meet SNP guidelines.
- Recording production/usage amounts on daily production sheet, for both the beginning inventory and the ending inventory.
- Stocking and rotating of food in dry stock, freezer and walk-in cooler area using the FIFO method.
- Stocking the ala-cart food area prior to lunch service, and maintaining a supply to accommodate both lunches.
- Ringing up food items thru a POS system
- Complete minimum of 6 hours of yearly instructional training.
This position requires the following skills:
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written
- Microsoft Office
- POS experience
- Navigating various software programs
- Ability to work in fast paced environment, work efficiently and multi-task
- Attention to detail with various record-keeping
- Familiarity with School Nutrition Program guidelines helpful not required
This position is a full-time position, at approximately 30 hours a week. The regular hours and days of this position revolve around the school year which begins mid- August and ends early June. Working hours start at 8 a.m. and generally occur Monday-Friday. Ending daily time will vary depending on the daily school schedule. Some assistance may be needed on weekends and/or evenings for catering events.
