Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing various financial functions such as month-end close of General Ledger, handling of multiple annual external audits, cash management which includes cash flow forecasting, payment processing, bank statement reconciliation, investment roll-forward schedules, Deposit and Loan fund management and various other projects and tasks. This role will report directly to the Director of Temporal Affairs and will involve continuous collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Management
- Monitor daily cash balances and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
- Identify potential cash shortfalls or surpluses and recommend appropriate actions.
- Execute cash transactions as needed.
- Coordinate weekly payout of payables and ensure accuracy and timeliness in processing vendor payments.
- Reconcile online giving transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness and collaborate with relevant departments to address any discrepancies
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements and investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Deposit and Loan Program
- Manage daily deposit and withdrawal transactions.
- Prepare and distribute monthly statements to account holders.
- Create promissory notes as needed.
- Process loan payments
Investment Account Management:
- Update multiple monthly investment roll-forward schedules to track investment performance.
- Create monthly journal entries to post portfolio activity.
Independent Annual Audit
- Coordinate annual audits with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for process improvements.
Month-End General Ledger Closing
- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Process monthly journal entries
- Review financial reports with Director and make adjusting and reclass entries.
Budget Support
- Assist Director with budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting as needed.
Special Projects:
- Assist with other tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director of Temporal Affairs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
- BS or BBA in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or financial analysis.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, cash management principles, and financial forecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Experience with independent annual audits required.
