Campus Minister Job Description
Position Title: Campus Minister
School: St. Michael Catholic School
Reports to: Principal

Grade Levels Served: PK4 through 8th Grade
Position Summary
The Campus Minister is responsible for fostering the spiritual and religious formation of students, faculty, and families in alignment with the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church. This individual leads and supports opportunities for prayer, liturgy, service, and faith development across all grade levels, ensuring the school community grows in faith, character, and Catholic identity.
Key Responsibilities
Faith Formation & Spiritual Development
- Plan and coordinate age-appropriate religious activities, including prayer services,retreats, weekly Rosary, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and seasonal celebrations(Advent, Lent, etc.)
- Staff Retreat
- Middle School Retreats
- Promote and model daily prayer across classrooms and school events.
- Assist with setting up for morning assembly and preparing students who leadprayer.
- Support the religion curriculum by collaborating with teachers and providingsupplemental faith formation opportunities.
- Organize Faith Alive for students in 5th-8th Grade.
- Assist in preparing students for sacraments (especially First Reconciliation and First Communion), in partnership with the parish.
- Attend Archdiocesan Religion Coordinator meetings.
Liturgy and Worship
- Coordinate regular school Masses (weekly), including liturgical planning with students, faculty, the principal, and the clergy.
- Train and schedule student altar servers for weekly school Mass and special school liturgies (First Communion, Graduation, etc.)
- Assist in the training of student lectors in conjunction with the Liturgical coordinator.
- Maintain a prayerful, reverent environment in the school chapel.
Community Building & Service
- Organize and lead service projects aligned with Catholic Social Teaching in conjunction with the student council.
- Encourage student participation in school-wide and parish service opportunities.
- Support pastoral care for students and staff through presence, listening, and encouragement.
Faculty & Staff Support
- Offer prayer and spiritual support for faculty and staff, including leading retreats or prayer groups
- Collaborate with administration and religion teachers to ensure Catholic identity is integrated throughout school life
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong knowledge of and commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and youth in a Catholic setting, ideally in a school or parish environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead prayer and liturgy with age-appropriate engagement and reverence.
- Must pass all background checks and fulfill Safe Environment requirements as mandated by the Diocese.
Schedule
- The Campus Minister will be on the same calendar/schedule as a teacher. They will attend in-service days and have the same holiday schedule.
