Duties include: Managing the day-to-day operation of our thrift store; coordinating different shifts of volunteers; organizing new inventory and rotating out old inventory; pricing new items received and discounting older items; displaying items in an orderly and eye-catching manner; promoting the store on social media; handling cash and other monetary transactions via cash register; promoting Mary's Shelter as you practice excellent customer relations.
Most important qualities: Your heart. We can teach you many thrift store practices, but we cannot teach your heart to love the mothers and children we serve. Your faith. We can teach you best practices concerning customer relations and ethics, but we do not have the time to teach you a respect for the Catholic faith and how we serve within the context of Our Lord's Church, which include many volunteers that come from local parishes. Your spirit. We can teach you to smile, but we cannot adequately teach you to care about everyone you meet, even that disgruntled customer who is difficult. All of these qualities are important to us and help Mary's Shelter's Thrift Store become a wonderful place where faith and works coexist.
