Parish Business Manager/Bookkeeper

The Business Manager oversees the operational and financial functions of the parish, remaining responsible and accountable for managing the personnel, financial and facility resources of the parish, assuring that these resources are used in a fair, just and judicious manner. These responsibilities include:
Personnel Management
Oversees parish administrative support employees, paid and volunteer.
Assists the pastor in the hiring process of new employees.
Conducts the orientation process for new employees.
Manages the administration of salary and benefit policies.
Tracks vacation and sick leave time.
Maintains files for each employee.
Meets regularly with parish staff and, as needed, to resolve issues and disputes
Financial Management
Assists the pastor in the development of the annual budget.
Serves as the staff resource person for the parish finance council.
Manages the budget by producing monthly financial statements for review.
Manages payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Tracks and submits invoices and disbursements to pastor for approval.
Analyzes revenue and expenditure activities and trends.
Supervises the collection, counting, recording, and depositing of parish revenues.
Maintains all financial records including files for each vendor.
Maintains, in a secure place, lists of computer logins and passwords.
Facilities Management
Supervises maintenance and cleaning personnel.
Ensures that building and equipment permits are current and required inspections are up to date.
Keeps all property keys labeled and organized in a secure place.
Assist the pastor in developing and implementing the long-term maintenance plan for all buildings.
Assists the pastor in managing all building and grounds projects.
Qualifications
Has knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
Maintains complete and accurate sacramental records.
Shows initiative and works well with both clergy and laity.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience
A bachelor's degree in business administration or related field (finance, accounting, management, etc.)
Experience in non-profit business management.
Proficiency with QuickBooks, Parish Soft, Connect Now, Microsoft Office, Publisher Excel and Word.
Training In Leadership And Supervisory Skills Preferred.
Experience and understanding of pastoral ministry preferred.
Communication Skills
Represents the parish to parishioners and external organizations.
Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possesses ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
Serves as contact person of the parish with diocesan business-related matters.
Participates in meetings of diocesan and deanery business managers.
