Second Grade Teacher Job Summary:
Good Shepherd Catholic School is hiring a second-grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
The second-grade teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally
appropriate learning environment for students. The teacher will plan and deliver standards-
based lessons that promote academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and character
development. The ideal candidate is nurturing, organized, flexible, and passionate about
working with young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in all core subject areas, including
reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, aligned with school curriculum and
academic standards.
Integrate technology and hands-on learning to support differentiated instruction and
accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
Create a structured and positive classroom environment that fosters respect,
responsibility, and a love of learning.
Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal assessments and use
data to guide instruction.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress,
behavior, and classroom activities.
Collaborate with other teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure continuity of
instruction and school-wide goals.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
Uphold the values, mission, and policies of the school.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (required)
Valid teaching certification for elementary education (preferred or required, depending
on school policy)
Prior experience teaching at the elementary level (preferred)
Strong classroom management skills
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Commitment to nurturing the whole child—academically, emotionally, socially, and
spiritually (for faith-based schools)
Working Conditions:
Ability to supervise students both in the classroom and during non-instructional times
(e.g., recess, lunch, field trips)
May involve standing for long periods, bending, lifting materials, and using educational
technology
Participation in school functions outside of the regular school day may be required
