Upper Elementary Teacher (2025/26)
St. Joan of Arc is prayerfully seeking a faith-filled, full-time Upper Elementary (Grades 3 – 5) Teacher for the upcoming school year. This position involves teaching in a self-contained classroom. The candidate would also be required to teach Religion to their homeroom.
The teacher candidate should be able to:
- Promote the mission and vision of St. Joan of Arc School.
- Be committed and passionate about Catholic education.
- Create a consistently high level of student engagement and learning.
- Hold a teaching certificate and have endorsements in their major subject area, if applicable.
- Be comfortable sharing their faith with their students.
- Differentiate instruction within the classroom to meet the needs of all students.
- Establish positive relationships with students.
- Set high standards for student behavior and manage inappropriate behavior effectively to maintain a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self-direction and confidence.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues.
- Cooperate with school administration to complete additional operational and professional responsibilities and duties as needed.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and interactive whiteboard technology.
All teachers in the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and/or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. Prior to working with students, the candidate must complete fingerprinting, a background check, and the Protecting God’s Children virtual workshop.
This candidate must have a valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsements in their major and/or minor subject level, if applicable.
