The Basilica School of Saint Mary, a Catholic Pre-K through eighth grade Parish School in Alexandria, Virginia, seeks an English Literature and Language teacher for the Middle School grades and English Department Chair for the 2025-26 school year. The English teacher will work closely with the middle school team in a highly collaborative manner and be committed to offering excellence in student intellectual, spiritual, and character formation. The Department Chair will coordinate the literature studies and writing program for grades five through eight, collaborating with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in and passion for English literature and writing, with an ability to engage students in a love for reading and literary analysis. Qualified candidates will fully embrace the mission of our Catholic school, which recognizes the infinite value of each student, seeks to develop the gifts of all, and nurtures them to be saints, stewards, and scholars, always with an eye to their eternal destiny. Ideal candidates will hold a Master's degree in English or education, will hold or be willing to work towards certification, and have strong instructional experiences.
