OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIY
The Senior Accountant maintains and controls certain general ledger accounts and business transactions applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records and accounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end recording and reporting including account analysis and actual to budget variance review
- Supports month-end and year-end closing process
- Prepares general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, including investments and endowment funds and employer’s self-insurance and other insurance programs
- Assists in the preparation of certain monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Prepares year-end account analysis and audit support work papers
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience
- Five years of experience in public accounting or private industry (non-profit experience preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
- Strong technical skills pertaining to financial statement preparation and review
- Ability to problem solve and think both creatively and logically
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (word and excel)
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to interact and collaborate with diverse groups of people
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels of management
- Knowledge of Blackbaud’s financial edge accounting software, preferred
- Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner requiring minimal oversight.
