The Pastor and Parishioners of Frassati Catholic Church in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC are searching for a Communications Specialist who desires a job with a higher calling and to serve our Parish as it continues to grow and thrive on its Good Adventure. We were established as a catholic community in 2020 and became an official church by degree by the Bishop of Charleston in 2023. Since our founding, we are one of the fastest growing Catholic parishes in South Carolina with nearly 1,000 registered households. Although the church is five years old, we still have a start-up mentality. We are in Phase 1 for the construction of our campus, and we currently rent space for our chapel and meeting hub, with weekend masses at a local catholic school. We are a creative, resourceful and caring community.
The Communications Specialist is a new position that requires a dedicated individual who can effectively support the pastor and pastoral team in various aspects of parish life and community engagement. The Communications Specialist serves a crucial role in developing strategies, tactics and taking action to ensure that parishioners are effectively informed of parish liturgical activities, events and opportunities, and in the growth in size of our parish. While the candidate reports directly to the Pastor, he/she collaborates with the deacons, business manager and business admin staff, music director, Frassati committee members and volunteers, the Diocese of Charleston, etc., as the task requires. It is anticipated that this position's normal weekly work schedule will be Wednesday through Sunday.
We believe the ideal candidate will be a Catholic in good standing who possess the qualifications and experience that include a bachelor's degree preferably in communications or marketing with five years or more of relevant business experience, and a solid understanding of the Catholic liturgical year. Capability in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Canva, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) is needed.
We also believe that the skills and competencies that are important to be successful include technical skills in the creation and practical application of communications strategies (written, verbal, digital and social media), an ability to build relationships, be an effective communicator, and value and demonstrate integrity and committed to kindness.
