We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Art and Drama Teacher who will inspire students through the study of fine arts, dramatic performance, and artistic appreciation. This position includes teaching Studio Art, Art Appreciation (Art History), and Drama, integrating Catholic principles and a classical perspective into the curriculum.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Studio Art: Teach students fundamental drawing, painting, and sculpture techniques while fostering an appreciation for beauty as understood in the Catholic tradition.
- Art Appreciation (Art History): Guide students through the history of Western art, focusing on key artistic movements, styles, and artists, particularly within the Catholic tradition.
- Drama: Direct and oversee school theatrical productions, introducing students to classical and sacred drama while developing their performance skills. This includes the annual Sophomore play (comedy), Junior play (drama), and Senior play (Shakespeare).
- Curriculum Development: Design lesson plans that integrate classical principles and Catholic teaching with the arts.
- Spiritual and Moral Formation: Encourage students to see artistic and dramatic expression as a means of glorifying God and enriching their faith.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Support student participation in art exhibitions, drama events, and school-wide artistic initiatives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, administration, and parents to enhance the classical curriculum and promote a culture of beauty and creativity within the school.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Humanities, Fine Arts, Art History, Drama, or a related field.
- Strong ability to integrate Catholic theology and philosophy with the arts.
- Passion for fostering artistic and dramatic excellence in young people.
- A practicing Catholic willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Chesterton Academy of Orlando.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience, preferably in a classical or Catholic educational setting.
- Experience directing drama productions and working with students in performance.
