PRIMARY PURPOSE: Ave Maria University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Admissions Counselor to join our team. This role is responsible for guiding prospective students and their parents through the admissions process and ensuring a smooth enrollment experience. In addition, the Admissions Counselor may attend recruiting events, visit high schools, conduct campus tours, delivering group and individual presentations. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, passionate about AMU, and skilled at building relationships. This position represents the university's mission, academic programs, and Catholic identity to potential students and their families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the primary liaison for prospective students and their families, providing personalized guidance on admissions procedures, academic programs, financial aid, and campus life.
Foster strong, consistent communication with families through phone calls, texts, and emails, ensuring a supportive experience from initial inquiry to final registration.
Evaluate student applications thoroughly, assessing eligibility for admission with attention to detail.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospective student interactions and application statuses using the admissions database.
Lead engaging campus tours, information sessions, and orientations, offering prospective students and their families an authentic and welcoming introduction to Ave Maria University.
Actively support outreach efforts by attending college fairs, visiting high schools, and participating in community events to promote the university and attract future students.
Oversee and mentor student workers, ensuring the successful completion of daily admissions tasks with efficiency and professionalism.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required
EXPERIENCE: Preferred experience in university admissions, marketing, or a related field.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with admissions software; experience with Slate CRM is preferred.
Willingness to become well versed in all aspects of Ave Maria University such as its founding, academic programs, student life, and campus culture in order to represent the institution authentically and effectively.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires standard mobility skills sufficient for regular travel to recruitment events, as well as the ability to stand, walk, and handle light to medium objects weighing 10-20 pounds. It also requires strong hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity for tasks like typing and data entry. Visual acuity is needed to use a computer, operate office equipment, and read detailed information. Clear hearing is necessary for conducting calls and verbal communication, and the role requires the ability to remain seated for extended periods, both in the office and during travel.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors with minimal safety hazards, and requires seated, standing, and movement work.
