Chesterton Academy of St. Benedict, a classical high school in the Catholic tradition, seeks a talented and dynamic full-time Literature teacher to join our team starting in the 2025-26 academic year. In our second year of operation, the 2025-2026 academic year will have 9th through 11th grades at the school. This role will have the opportunity to teach additional subjects, including Debate and Drama, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the school.
A bachelor's or master's degree in Literature or a related Humanities field is required. Experience in classical education and curriculum is preferred. The candidate will be familiar with teaching in the Socratic method and prepared to implement the IEW writing program. The candidate should understand and be able to teach using an integrated curriculum drawn from the great books that allows for the connection between the humanities and the arts/sciences.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic and willing to take the Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and possess a track record of contributing to the vision and mission of an apostolic and educational enterprise.
In addition to their teaching responsibilities, faculty at the Chesterton Academy of St. Benedict participate in the House system, which is designed to promote character and virtue, and to help students grow in holiness. Faculty members are required to attend daily Mass with the entire student body and assist in leading spiritual retreats and school activities.
