Registered Nurse (RN)
The Registered Nurse at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland provides nursing care to residents/clients, ensuring compliance with medical guidelines and Catholic Charities' mission. Responsibilities include administering medications, maintaining medical records, monitoring health, educating clients on symptoms and medications, and coordinating care with other medical providers. The nurse assists with assessments, follows safety protocols, and ensures confidentiality of health data. Required qualifications include a degree in nursing, Ohio RN licensure, at least two years of experience in nursing, and knowledge of adolescent medicine/community health. Must have strong communication skills and be well-organized. At this time this position would be one (1) day per week from 9a EST - 5p EST, Wednesdays
Responsibilities:
- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and in compliance with physician instructions.
- Take medical history and maintain necessary medical records for each resident/client.
- Participate in planning of health care needs.
- Monitor and provide education, to client and significant others, on symptoms, medications and side effects.
- Manage assigned Psychiatrist schedule to include assisting, as needed, in scheduling, follow up calls and rescheduling, as applicable to the program.
- Meet face to face with clients to monitor vitals, weight and overall well being of clients provided service.
- May coordinate with other medical providers, hospitals and pharmacies to ensure continuity and integrated care.
- May provide instruction in hygiene to staff and clients, update and record immunizations, arrange for special diets or consultations with physicians or dentists.
- Act as a liaison between direct care staff and all medical consultants and/or physicians.
- Observe safety rules and maintain safe environment for residents/clients, staff and visitors in clinic.
- Adhere to ethical standards, privacy and confidentiality laws of residents/clients and their records.
- Provide accurate documentation of residents’/clients’ medical care and fully participate in Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) as prescribed.
- Follow established procedures for control of communicable or infectious diseases through identification, reporting, protective and preventive measures.
- Notify physician of abnormal assessment data, communications from treating program therapists and consult with physician on all health issues where nurses are not legally licensed to function.
- Conduct nursing assessment and assessments MD with physical exams for each resident/client on admission.
- Practice positive attitudes toward the care of residents/clients, the organization and its mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Requirements:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing, current Registered Nurse, licensure in State of Ohio.
- Must have two (2) years nursing experience and previous knowledge and experience in adolescent medicine and/or community health.
- Must be able to exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out nursing functions, philosophy, purpose and policies.
- Must be able to incorporate all aspects of nursing in total patient care plans.
- Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
- Ability to work with diverse client population, community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
- Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to work with a variety of people.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat and reach above head.
- Must be able to navigate stairs.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds unassisted if working in Adult Day Services.
- Good working knowledge of computers and familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
