Status: Non- Exempt, Full Time
Salary Range: $20.67 - $24.32
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. Candidates are paid at the minimum of the salary range or no higher than the first quartile of the salary range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, and other department needs.

Position Summary
To perform a variety of duties in support of parishes and schools within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles related to the requirement for fingerprinting employees and volunteers.
Essential Functions
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
- Pass a background check and obtain a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan Operator License. Provide fingerprinting services for individuals, parishes and schools that require such services.
- Pass a background check and obtain a DOJ Criminal Offender Report Information (CORI) Reporter License.
- Assist the Supervisor/Specialist on investigations on an as needed basis.
- Process all Live Scan Request received via the DOJ Secure Email, ensuring that they are loaded into the Volunteer/Paid Personnel Information Network (VPIN) database.
- Archive all Live Scan Request and destroy all hardcopy Live Scan Requests that are more than one year old.
- Maintain all Fingerprint counts in specified Yearly Audit Categories and file these counts in the Yearly Audit report for the Audit committee.
- Maintain the serviceability on the Live Scan Machines for the Live Scan Operators use.
- Develop, provide, and maintain VPIN Training for all VPIN users.
- Provide Help Desk services in answering phones and questions related to fingerprinting.
- Maintain VPIN database services for archdiocesan parishes and schools.
- Provide analysis and solutions for all problems that arise within the Fingerprinting Department and the VPIN Database.
- Periodically visit Fingerprinting Site Sessions providing assistance and guidance as needed.
- Enter data and generate reports for the Fingerprinting VPIN Database.
- Set up, organize, update, and maintain files and file documents.
- Proofreads correspondence, memos, reports and other documents.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, typically:
- High School graduation or equivalent
- Department of Justice Clearance passed
- Have a valid California Driver’s License and Auto insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of:
- The mission and organizational structure of the Catholic Church.
- Understand why fingerprinting is necessary.
- Basic computer skills including knowledge of current word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Record keeping methods and procedures.
Skill in:
- Typing at a minimum of 45 wpm.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with all types of personalities.
- Report assembling.
- Telephone communications.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to:
- Understand the Fingerprint process and operate live scan machine.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral form.
- Maintain complete confidentiality.
- Operate standard office equipment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Sit for sustained periods on a daily basis.
- Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking.
- Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands and arms.
