Summary Cardinal Mooney High School seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as its Head Football Coach. The preferred candidate will have previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate levels. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and the ability to build a winning football program with a culture that supports Cardinal Mooney’s core values of Sanctity, Scholarship and Discipline. Candidates must also possess strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the know-how to create and sustain a competitive football program and promote individual athletic excellence. A full-time teaching or other position may accompany the head coaching position depending on the needs of the school and the candidate’s credentials. Reports to: Athletic Director, Principal
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive football program for high school student-athletes. Lead practices, training sessions, and games while promoting a safe and competitive environment. Supervise and mentor assistant coaches. Monitor and maintain high academic standards, emphasizing the balance between sports and education. Build strong relationships with players, families, and the school community. Collaborate with school administration and the Athletic Director to ensure program alignment with school values and policies. Promote student-athlete development in leadership, sportsmanship, and character. Manage equipment, uniforms, and the football program budget. Experience in building a successful and sustainable football program. Familiarity with NCAA recruiting processes and eligibility requirements. Catholic Character Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred. At least two (3) years of experience as an athletic coach is preferred. CPR/AED/First Aid Trained preferred. Must be willing to complete within the first month of employment and keep all required certificates and licenses active. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Works frequently in close physical proximity to others and may encounter work in enclosed or tight spaces.
Physical Sensory Requirements Must be able to traverse various athletic grounds and facilities. Prolonged periods of standing or walking. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, see, hear, and use their hands for fine and gross motor functions; required to see up close and from far away.
