Job Description
The ideal candidate will provide engaging and content-rich instruction in HRA's elementary curriculum, collaborate well with colleagues, and commit to the classical school model. A background in the Liberal Arts is preferred. The candidate values a faithful Catholic education and understands how the Catholic worldview permeates the curriculum and classroom culture. HRA's mission is to support parents as the primary educators of their children. We believe the role of a teacher is to support parents in the formation of their students in faith, reason, and virtue through a Catholic, classical education.
Salary ranges from $43,000 - $50,000 depending on experience and education. Dental and vision insurance included.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Hold a bachelor's degree or higher
Embrace the Catholic mission and philosophy of the school
Be a practicing Catholic and a good role model for the students
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ideally, have at least one year of teaching experience
Have content-area knowledge appropriate to the grade level
Understand the behavioral, emotional, and cognitive needs of elementary students
Be capable of teaching several subjects well
Effectively manage the classroom and perform relevant administrative tasks
Be open to mentorship by a veteran teacher
Responsibilities
Teach the elementary curriculum: math, phonics, language arts, history, religion, and science
Maintain a positive classroom environment where both the children and the teacher speak with respect and work to display the virtues of kindness, patience, and humility
Curriculum and lessons are standardized, but teachers are encouraged to enhance the lessons with a creative, personalized approach that will resonate with their students
Effectively manage the classroom
Communicate clearly with parents, colleagues, and staff
Act professionally at school and during all school functions
Prepare daily lesson plans, assess students, and input grades weekly

HRA recognizes the difficulty teachers experience in finding affordable housing in Anchorage. Therefore, we offer furnished, rent-controlled apartments on campus for eligible teachers.
