About the Role

As a Learning Specialist at SBA, you’ll play a vital role in shaping and managing academic programs that provide personalized support to students with diagnosed learning differences. You’ll oversee two key programs:

L.E.A.P. (Learning Enhanced Academic Program) – Focused on individualized academic assistance.
P.L.U.S. (Positive Learning Utilizing Strategies) – Designed to equip students with effective learning strategies.

By collaborating with teachers, counselors, and families, you’ll help develop customized student growth plans, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential in a supportive and encouraging environment.

What You’ll Do

Empower Students: Provide one-on-one and small-group instruction for students in grades 9-12.
Collaborate with Educators: Work with teachers to implement effective classroom accommodations and strategies.
Track & Monitor Growth: Use progress monitoring tools to track student development.
Engage with Families: Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and host conferences to support their academic success.
Coordinate with Specialists: Liaise with outside professionals to ensure comprehensive student support.
Support Faculty: Provide resources, training, and guidance to help teachers meet the needs of all learners.
Summarize & Share Evaluations: Work alongside school counselors to interpret and communicate important educational-psychological evaluations.

Beyond the Classroom

As part of the SBA community, you will also:

Lead a small-group advisory three times a week, building relationships and mentoring students.
Participate in school-wide events, including professional development, masses, admissions events, and graduation.

What We’re Looking For

We seek a dedicated and compassionate educator who:

Holds a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s or Doctorate preferred).
Has at least 2 years of experience working with high school students in an academic setting.
Possesses a strong understanding of learning differences and experience supporting students who need additional guidance.
Is a collaborative team player who can work closely with teachers, counselors, and families.
