7TH GRADE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS & 6TH GRADE RELIGION TEACHER

Christ the Teacher Catholic School, a nationally recognized school in Newark, Delaware, is

searching for a highly motivated, engaging, initiative-seeking 7th-grade English Language

Arts and 6th-grade Religion teacher with a homeroom responsibility along with

responsibility for the moderation of two elective periods.

Job Description:

As a 7th-grade ELA and 6th-grade Religion Teacher at Christ the Teacher Catholic school,

you will have the unique opportunity to inspire students academically and spiritually. You

will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts to 7th graders and Religion to 6th

graders, integrating Catholic teachings and values into both subjects. This role requires a

passionate educator who is dedicated to fostering a love for literature, language, and faith

formation in our students.

Responsibilities:

● Teach English Language Arts to 7th-grade students, covering reading comprehension,

writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills.

● Design and implement engaging and differentiated ELA lessons that align with DE and

Diocesan standards and the school's curriculum framework.

● Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued,

respected, and motivated to learn.

● Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology to enhance

student learning and engagement.

● Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments,

providing timely and constructive feedback.

● Teach Religion to 6th-grade students, exploring Catholic beliefs, traditions, scripture,

and moral teachings.

● Integrate Catholic values and principles into religious instruction, guiding students' spiritual

growth and development.

● Lead prayer, reflection, and discussion sessions to deepen students' understanding of

their faith and encourage active participation in the Church community.

● Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support students'

holistic development and well-being.

● Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school

events as required.

● Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the school, serving as a positive role model

for students and colleagues alike.

Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Religious Studies, or a related field (Master's

degree preferred).

● Valid teaching certification/license (DE or MD).

● Experience teaching English Language Arts and/or Religion to middle school students,

preferably in a Catholic or Christian school setting.

● Deep understanding of ELA and Religion curriculum standards, instructional best

practices, and assessment strategies.

● Strong commitment to Catholic education and the integration of faith into academic

instruction.

● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

● Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

● Passion for working with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and

spiritual growth.

● Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute

to the school community.
