PARISH BOOKKEEPER

JOB PURPOSE: Parish Bookkeeper is responsible for keeping accurate financial records using current software and regularly producing figures and reports as directed.

STATUS: PART-TIME 20 HRS/WK

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

Receive and enter invoices following established process.
Process invoices in ParishSoft accounting software in order to print checks.
Record and payment of monthly drafts by entering into software system.
Record all deposits into software system including weekly mass collections and any other miscellaneous deposits.
Report weekly mass collections to Parish Admin to record in weekly bulletin.
Record weekly mass collections and electronic deposits into ParishSoft and maintain parishioner records for two year period as required by the Diocese.
Reconcile bank statements for checking and savings accounts.
Prepare monthly financial statements to be reviewed by the Financial Council.
Process monthly payroll and ensure accuracy – enter payroll journal entry each pay period.
Ensure monthly and yearly closing process is finalized accurately.
Transfer funds to the general operating and savings account.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Professional experience in accounting/office skills preferred.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Responsible, dependable, detailed oriented and professional.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Proven ability to manage work independently.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
