St. Gregory the Great School seeks a full-time School Counselor.
Eligible candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in counseling or social work from an accredited institution and be certified. At least five years of previous experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic role model who is passionate about sharing the Catholic faith, and has experience in providing individual and/or group counseling.
The candidate must be able to appropriately assist with the interpretation of tests, student data, and other assessment results in a counseling environment. Interested candidates must be capable of consulting and collaborating with administration faculty, staff and parents in our school setting. This individual must be able to make appropriate referrals of students and parents to outside agencies and specialists. This individual must serve as an advocate for all students and collaborate with other professionals in enhancing their education.
The successful candidate must participate in activities that support and promote the mission of our school and pursue continued professional growth to stay abreast of the field. This individual should have an understanding and appreciation of diverse populations, learning styles and cultures. The individual must adhere to ethical standards of state and national school counselor associations and demonstrate knowledge of local and diocesan policies, state and federal laws pertaining to school counseling. he candidate must be able to conduct counseling sessions in response to identified needs of children (themes include but are not limited to: academic skill building, social skill development, conflict resolution, promoting a bully-free school environment, family issues and making positive and healthy choices).
