They are geographically distributed from Lewiston to Olean and from the West Side of Buffalo to Batavia. We are implementing new academic models and programs to support social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. We are also re-structuring our organization to create one school system and a shared services team to create a solid foundation for growth. Together, we teach, serve, and evangelize so our students, their families, and our dedicated team grow in faith, knowledge, and love.
Human Resources Manager Primary Responsibilities: The Human Resources Manager works with the Diocesan Human Resources Department and serves as the point-person for school-related Human Resources matters. This individual’s ultimate goal is to work with Catholic Education and school leadership to create a motivating and rewarding workplace that attracts, develops, and retains top talent while helping our team members find Christ, meaning, and joy in their work.
Talent Acquisition – Lead an annual staff planning process. Implement and manage a job analysis and talent requisition process, internal job postings, and all advertising and external candidate sourcing processes. Develop proactive recruitment channels to attract new teachers and administrators. Develop marketing materials to promote the benefits of working in Catholic education. Build partnerships with higher education institutions and provide proactive programming to entice their students to consider Catholic education. Manage student teacher and residency placement, ensuring that students receive an outstanding experience while learning in and contributing to our schools. Implement candidate screening processes, facilitate background checks, and coordinate interviews and job offers with principals. Ensure positions are filled and candidates are available in the event of turnover.
Substitute Pool – Develop a system for attracting and placing substitute teachers within school communities. Establish and oversee programs for students to experience our schools through Spring substitute assignments and summer programming.
Performance Management – Administer an online process to ensure that all school employees have annual goals, receive frequent and regular observation and coaching, and receive an annual performance review. Support principals and administrators in the development of corrective action and performance improvement plans, as necessary. Collaborate with the Diocesan Human Resources Director to support the administration of compensation, benefits, and other total rewards programs.
Learning and Development – Develop and administer new hire onboarding programs, using technology, interactive experiences, and special projects to create an impressive and welcoming experience. Ensure all school employees have individual professional development plans. Use these plans as well as the strategic plan for the organization to develop professional development experiences that drive school outcomes. Work with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents to develop succession plans and create learning pathways to ready successors for advancement.
Staff and Labor Relations – Provide advice and answer questions from team members, in accordance with the policies established for the School System. Create self-service system for answering common questions. Identify common concerns and find opportunities to improve the quality of the work environment. Conduct an annual staff survey to identify workplace strengths and opportunities to become a great place to work. Lead union negotiations, as appropriate.
Systems and Reporting – Implement and maintain talent acquisition, performance management, and recordkeeping systems for all employees. Create monthly progress reports and other information to track goal achievement and provide insight to decision makers. Perform all employment-related data administration associated with NCEA and BEDS reporting.
Compliance – Develop, maintain, and communicate policies and practices in compliance with appropriate educational and labor regulations. Establish relationships with governing bodies, legal authorities, academic partners, and HR organizations to maintain knowledge of current requirements. Ensure all staff is in compliance with Safe Environment requirements and create efficient and effective methods for ensuring ongoing compliance.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources
• SHRM or similar Certification preferred
• 5+ years experience in human resources, with significant experience in talent acquisition
• Experienced with ADP software or other HRIS system, talent acquisition systems, job posting platforms, and spreadsheet and presentation applications
Reporting Structure:
• Matrix reporting relationship with the Diocesan Director of Human Resources and the Superintendent for schools
• This position does not supervise others
• Collaborates regularly with Assistant Superintendents and Principals, as well as Catholic Education Shared Services Team
Salary Information: $50,000 – $60,000 annually
