PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Parish Evangelization & Young Adult Director provides direction and support for parishes to build a culture of evangelization with their parishioners and those that enter their doors, especially young adults. This position will be responsible for developing small group leader training for parishes and to develop and assemble resources for small group study in the parishes to build communities of disciples. This position will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a program for parishes to welcome inquirers into the OCIA process. They will also be a diocesan resource for parishes who have status questions of those entering the OCIA process. This position will support the Curia and parishes in implementing an evangelization centered vision for parish ministry. This position will oversee the Office of Youth Evangelization.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Must be a practicing Catholic, a member in good standing of a Diocesan Catholic parish, be living consistent with his/her vocation and possess a strong faith commitment dedicated to the Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service.
- Bachelor’s degree in religious studies or similar focus required plus a minimum of five years’ experience in a catechetical or evangelization position at the parish or diocesan level. Master’s degree in theology or related area preferred.
- Position requires an understanding of evangelization processes as they pertain to youth, young adults, and adults.
- Excellent familiarity with applicable Church documents concerning evangelization including but not limited to Evangelii Nuntiandi, Evangelii Gaudium, Go and Make Disciples, Disciples Called to Witness, and Living as Missionary Disciples.
- Strong technical and social media capability including Facebook, Twitter, Flocknote etc.
- Excellent relational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Publisher, Word, Excel, Constant Contact, Power Point and Adobe.
- Collaborative leadership, decision-making and listening skills.
- Ability to comprehend and explain complex, semi-complex policy and procedure.
- Planning and budgeting skills.
- Proven public speaking skills, detailed planning, and organizational skills.
- People-oriented with ability to complete multiple projects and tasks as required.
- Detail-oriented and able to make decisions in collaboration with supervisor.
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively.
- Ability to see a large perspective and envision a variety of methods for evangelization.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
