Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Church Secretary to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the church's administrative functions, ensuring smooth operations, and fostering a welcoming environment for our congregation. This position requires strong clerical skills, attention to detail, and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
The Church Administrative Assistant serves as the primary point of contact at the rectory, representing the church with professionalism and warmth. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders and effectively prioritizing needs and events as they arise. Key responsibilities include managing accounts receivable, preparing weekly bank deposits, and maintaining strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
One of the most detailed and time-consuming tasks is maintaining the church ledger, which includes records of baptisms, communions, confirmation, marriages, deaths, and funerals. This responsibility
requires meticulous attention to detail, regular coordination with dioceses across the country, and athorough understanding of canon law. The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and committed to upholding the church’s standards of integrity and condentiality.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble weekly bank deposit slips/ Enter account contributions
- Manage scheduling for the oce, church, and social hall
- Prioritize events and visitors with professionalism and tact
- Order office supplies, maintain office equipment, and oversee vendor contracts
- Coordinate with various groups for funeral arrangements
- Maintain church records for baptisms, communions, confirmation, marriages, deaths, and funerals
- Deliver exceptional customer service
- Type and format weekly bulletin announcements and professional communications
- Organize and maintain annual, monthly, and quarterly testing paperwork, including all necessary documentation
- This position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act

Pay: $30,694.00 - $39,391.00 per year
