Description
The English as Second Language (ESL) Case Manager will coordinate all assigned locations and ensure streamlined programs that increase client understanding and progression. The ESL Caseworker should be culturally aware and supportive of a growing, diverse client base. Our goal is to provide an engaging, comfortable, and safe environment for our clients to learn ESL and prepare them for their lives in the United States. The position also requires general supervision to serve as an assistant and resource to teachers in the supervision, teaching, observation, and training of students; to assist and engage in the preparation and assembling of teaching materials; may function in a bilingual capacity within the instructional setting with clients.
General functions:
- Adhere to strict confidentiality of all client and volunteer information. The agency follows all HIPAA guidelines.
- Prepare, maintain, and update student records in areas related to attendance, discipline, emergency, health, and other student records as assigned.
- Enter, maintain, and update data in the Web-Rs databases.
- Be capable of doing presentations to groups as well as on a one-on-one basis.
- Enter, maintain, and update data in the Web-RS databases.
- Maintain cumulative record files for students.
- Schedule appointments and make referrals as appropriate.
- Maintain calendar(s) for the ESL program.
- Conduct phone calls to the students as a follow-up as needed.
- Provide input during performance evaluations as requested.
- Tutoring ESL on an on-needed basis.
- Manage student registration process; prepare enrollment and referral forms; assist with the proper completion of forms; request new student files; orient new families and students to the program.
- Provide administrative assistance on a needed basis.
Requirements
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
The ESL Case Manager must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and the required Certification CASAS ESL. A minimum of one year of ESL experience in teaching or tutoring multi-level students. Demonstrated experience with project planning and coordination. Must have the ability to converse, read and write in Spanish, Creole or other refugee-specific languages is necessary to accommodate the needs of a growing community.
