Director of Development Position: Remote, Full-time (Exempt)
Summary:
Franciscan Media (FM) (www.franciscanmedia.org) is a legacy Catholic media organization and a sponsored ministry of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Province of OFMs. (www.friars.us) FM's ministry includes book and magazine publishing and the development of online resources aimed at adult evangelization. FM's online reach is impressive in terms of website traffic, email open rate, and its social media following. There is so much potential for growth and ministry!
Starting in early 2025, FM will begin to develop its online platform for the purpose of providing an online evangelization experience for Catholic adults and other seekers. The platform aims to connect visitors' pain points and questions with digital resources that are faithfully Catholic and authentically Franciscan. Going forward, books and magazine content will be strategically positioned to support the developing platform.
FM needs a Director of Development who is excited about this vision and is willing to work hard to grow our donor base in support of this initiative. This hire will also work with current engaged donors to raise money in support of the current staff and operations of the ministry.
The Director of Development collaborates with Franciscan Media's President, Marketing Director, and Digital Content Strategist to set the 1 to 3 year fundraising strategy and corresponding goals. The Director will also be responsible for setting all major gift strategies and nurturing major donor relationships associated with the discovery cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts to ensure goals are met or exceeded for the year.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with key leadership to develop annual fundraising goals and ensure those goals are met or exceeded
• Grant writing and reporting
• Develop goals for major gifts and ensure those goals are met or exceeded.
• Build and nurture relationships with major donors, identify, qualify, solicit, close, and steward major and planned gifts from high net-worth individuals.
• Maintain a schedule to support a portfolio of 120 relationships, tracking activities that lead to gifts.
• Execute a moves management approach to the portfolio and a custom strategy for each donor to develop approaches to generate new and higher levels of giving.
• Promote and close complex gifts such as campaigns, endowments, and sponsorships.
• Provide updates to Board of Directors
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. At least three years as a professional fundraiser.
2. Skilled at assessing needs, inspiring action, and following up with contacts
3. Experience fundraising in Catholic organizations is preferred
4. Exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
5. Self-starter, highly organized, creative and strategic thinker who is goal oriented.
6. Remote work experience.
7. Ability to collaborate within remote team environment.
8. Experience and proficiency in digital project management tools.
9. CRM experience, HubSpot and Virtuous experience a plus.
10. MS Office suite proficiency.
11. Knowledge of Franciscan spirituality and alignment with mission to share God's love through thoughtful communications in the spirit of St. Francis.
12. Additional duties as needed.
