POSITION SUMMARY:
Faculty member will teach two sections within the curriculum and work part time as Director of Student Life. As a Faculty Member, this position works with the President to develop curriculum and set standards and goals for courses taught. This position also works with appropriate third parties to stay up to date on the latest education and trade skill theory. As Director of Student life, the person who holds this position will create and implement student activities which promote the mission of the College and further develop Catholic identity of our student culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintaining the Catholic mission of the College as foremost priority, ; planning and teaching required curriculum
- Under the direction of the President, choose course subject matter, materials, and create syllabi.
- Enthusiastically engage with students regarding the subject matter and hold them to a high standard of comprehension.
- Set goals and metrics for course outcomes.
- Create and direct the Student Life program.
- Proactively engage with students to promote general well-being, deepen spirituality, and build community.
- Create and have custody of the Student Handbook, in collaboration with the Academic Council
- Solicit best practices and ideas from appropriate organizations; engage with local vendors for providing support.
- Maintain a budget for events and track expenditures.
- Serve in an elected role oin the Academic Council as well as other committees, as applicable (such as the Admissions Committee).

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Must adhere to the College Code of Conduct and agree to witness to the teachings of the Catholic Church by living a life of Christian virtue
- At least a Master of Arts in theology, philosophy, or another discipline in the Humanities
- Experience working in or leading an Office for Student Life at the post-secondary level.
- A passion for and commitment to the mission and goals of the San Damiano College for the Trades, including active support for its Catholic identity.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and direct events
- Exceptional teamwork and communication skills
- The ability to meet established deadlines for simultaneous projects and commitments
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, ability to learn and adapt to new software programs
- Valid driver’s license and personal transportation; occasional travel required.
POSITION DETAILS:
- Compensation is negotiated based on experience, salary comparison, and budgetary realities; see contract for compensation information.
- This is an exempt, contracted position. See contract regarding required working days. Contract renewal is subject to review by the President and the Board of Directors.
- Employee must understand and commit to the religiously formative and expressive mission of the College as expressed in its statement of faith, participating in a ministerial function, which includes willingness to lead Christian prayer and delivering theological, spiritual, and morally formative content.
- Employee will be subject to background check, safe-environment training, and oath of fidelity to the magisterium of the Catholic Church or a fitting promise of respect (if non-Catholic).
