Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana seeks a Vice President for Mission to begin as soon as possible, or by June 1, 2025.
As an officer of the College and a member of the President’s Executive Team, the Vice President for Mission partners with the President and other Executive Team members to advance the College mission and to lead a periodic assessment of the effectiveness and relevance of the mission and Catholic identity of the College. The Vice President also assists the President of the College in maintaining a constructive relationship with the local Bishop and other representatives of the Church.
The Vice President is responsible for developing and implementing programming and education that animates the entire community around the charism of the Sisters of the Holy Cross—not only their history and values, but also their ongoing lived mission, a mission that Saint Mary’s College is part of. The Vice President maintains a relationship with the President of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in order to ensure a natural channel for sharing vision and ideas between the Congregation and the College.
The VP directly supervises the directors of two separate units: the Center for Faith, Action, and Ministry (CFAM) and the Center for the Study of Spirituality (CFSS) . The VP for Mission chairs, shapes, and guides the Mission Council and shepherds the sustainability efforts of the College—chairing the Sustainability Committee, which is guided by our commitment to Laudato Sí. In addition, the Vice President’’s work is horizontal in nature as it aims to engage and inspire the entire community around our historic commitments to learning, to faith and spirituality, to justice for marginalized communities, and to community.
The VP for Mission is a leader who exemplifies how the mission can be lived.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Committed Roman Catholic.
- Master’s degree in theology, religious studies, divinity, or related field required. Ph.D. or earned doctorate preferred.
- Openness to and understanding of religious sponsorship.
- Interest in the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and their charism.
- Commitment to fostering a Catholic, Holy Cross education; to hiring and retaining a diverse staff, and to supporting faculty teaching, research, and service in collaboration with the provost.
- Strong commitment to the vision, mission and values of Saint Mary’s College.
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership.
- Relevant administrative experience in mission integration and Mission advancement in a higher education setting.
- Personal characteristics including integrity, vision, and creativity.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
