Job Title: Chief Housing Officer (CHO)

Catholic Charities in Albuquerque is seeking a dynamic Chief Housing Officer (CHO) to lead the Center for Self-Sufficiency and Housing Assistance. The CHO will be a strategic, results-driven leader with extensive experience in the housing/homelessness assistance nonprofit sector. This role requires exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, a proven track record of managing complex programs, and the ability to oversee and inspire a diverse team of directors, staff, and volunteers. Programs models include permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, and homeless prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise staff, interns, and volunteers while fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Ensure program goals are met and maintain compliance with contracts, grants, and funding requirements.
- Manage Continuum of Care (CoC) competitions and annual grant renewals to ensure program stability.
- Coordinate grant applications, draft project narratives, and analyze performance metrics to optimize funding opportunities.
- Prepare and oversee departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Maintain accurate and compliant client records and prepare for internal and external audits.
- Build and maintain community partnerships to enhance service delivery and outreach.
- Represent the organization in public relations and community engagement efforts.
- Develop and implement agency policies and ensure cultural responsiveness in all services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social, Behavioral, or Health Sciences, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible management experience in housing or nonprofit sectors.
- Minimum 4 years supervisory experience and budget management expertise.
- At least 3 years of federal grant management experience, with a deep understanding of compliance standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) and multicultural experience preferred.
Compensation And Benefits
Salary: $80,000–$86,000 annually, DOE.
