Job Description
St. Ann School, a small Catholic Pre-K–8th grade school in Lawrenceville, NJ, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Teacher to lead our 3rd-grade classroom from mid-April through the end of the school year in June. This role involves delivering a well-rounded education rooted in faith-based values and fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. We are looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic about creating a positive learning environment and is committed to supporting the development of every child.
Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Mid-April to June)
Salary: Negotiable
Responsibilities
- Deliver Instruction: Implement daily lessons across subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Religion, following established school curricula and standards.
- Maintain Classroom Environment: Create a safe, respectful, and welcoming classroom that reflects the values of St. Ann School and promotes growth, respect, and kindness.
- Lesson Planning: Prepare and adapt lesson plans as needed to ensure curriculum continuity, differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, and maintain high expectations for student achievement.
- Assessment and Feedback: Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, provide meaningful feedback, and communicate progress to students, parents, and administration as needed.
- Classroom Management: Maintain effective classroom discipline using positive reinforcement, establish routines, and follow the school's behavior management protocols to create a productive learning environment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other teachers, support staff, and administration to support student learning and well-being. Attend school meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
- Faith and Values Integration: Reflect the values of a Catholic education by modeling respect, compassion, and integrity in all interactions and integrating faith-based perspectives where appropriate.
- Administrative Duties: Complete all necessary documentation, including attendance, grading, and communication with families, and other required administrative tasks.
Qualifications - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; valid New Jersey teaching certification preferred.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience, ideally in elementary education. Familiarity with Catholic education values is a plus.

- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and families
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to effectively manage classroom transitions and unforeseen changes
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive environment for all students
- Clearances: Successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting as required by the Diocese of Trenton and NJ State regulations.
