ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
One of three institutions founded by St. John Eudes in the 1640s, the Congregation of Jesus & Mary (A.K.A. The Eudists) continue their founder’s mission of evangelization, formation, and living out the love and mercy of God. Under Catholic Canon Law they are a Society of Apostolic Life, which has similarities to a Religious Order.
Present in the US since 1947 and in the San Diego Diocese since 1976, the six Eudist priests currently in the USA carry out the mission of mercy by staffing two parishes, operating a seminarian house of discernment and formation, plus forming lay leaders by teaching courses with the San Diego Diocesan Institute and at USD.
Since 2015, the Eudists in the USA have staffed a Mission Advancement Office to support Eudist apostolates. “Mission Advancement” is a wholistic term recommended by the National Catholic Development Council, wherein monetary fundraising is just one of several areas of focus for its activity to further the mission.
