Overview & Schedule:
The full-time position is day shift, mostly Monday through Friday, but it is a requirement to work every other weekend from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
The part-time position is also day shift, but requires every weekend from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm, plus 1 -2 weekdays.
Both jobs are at Assisi House, where aging Sisters of St. Francis are provided medical care along with other supportive services.
The Environment Services Aide must carry out job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia.
The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for performing the daily cleaning tasks of residents’ rooms, and other general use areas within Assisi House.
The Environmental Services Aide must ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained in accordance with policies and procedures of the department.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Performs cleaning tasks in assigned areas by following established departmental procedures.
- Uses appropriate cleaning supplies, and prepares germicidal solutions according to infection control procedures.
- Cleans occupied and unoccupied resident rooms following prescribed procedures.
- Completes all high and low dusting in assigned areas.
- Wipes all point of touch surfaces with disinfectant.
- Cleans and polishes metal or porcelain fixtures in bathrooms including toilets, sinks, mirrors, walls and floors.
- Cleans all furniture in assigned areas and arranges correctly.
- Sweeps, vacuums, dust mops, and removes spillages by wet mopping according to department procedure, giving special attention to baseboards and corners.
- Keeps supply closet locked and service cart neat and in an orderly manner.
- Stocks service cart with appropriate supplies and transports to work area. Replenishes expendable items in restrooms such as toilet paper, paper towels and soap.
- Inspects work to include spot washing of walls, waste baskets, and any necessary floor care.
- Inspects areas before leaving making sure windows are closed, lights off and doors locked.
Other Important Functions
- Practices proper hand washing techniques and universal safety precautions.
- Promotes safe work practices in fulfilling job responsibilities and in using equipment.
- Reports work related incidents immediately to the department director.
- Carries out responsibilities and serves as a role model for the mission and core values of the organization.
- Attends and participates in all mandatory in-service programs and departmental meetings.
- Follows proper dress requirements. Attire is to be neat, clean, professional and meet the organization’s safety standards.
- Follows the department’s work, break and meal schedules. This includes working weekends and holidays at Assisi House as scheduled.
- Works as a team player assisting co-workers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the department director.
Qualifications
- Is a high school graduate or the equivalent.
- Is punctual and highly dependable.
- Has a minimum of six months of experience in environmental services or in another service-related field with customer contact, ideally in a medical facility/setting.
- Is able to work the scheduled hours (Day shift.)
- Gives attention to detail.
- Is able to read, comprehend and follow instructions.
- Has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Collaborates and works effectively with residents, co-workers and volunteers. Demonstrates a willingness to help others.
Physical Requirements
> Is able to:
- Lift a minimum of 25 pounds using good body mechanics.
- Tolerate long periods of pushing, standing, walking, bending and reaching.
- Perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the day to complete the requirements of the job.
- Move around throughout the building during the day.
- Relate to and work around ill, disabled and elderly residents in the facility
Work Environment
- Works primarily indoors.
- May be exposed to environments with changing temperatures.
- May be exposed on an intermittent basis to unpleasant odors, toxic or caustic cleaning solutions.

Pay: $13.50 - $15.00 per hour
