The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facilities maintenance and electrical systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring a safe and functional environment for all occupants.ResponsibilitiesPerform minor maintenance, including paintingAbility to operate and maintain various custodial equipment and machineryAssist in cleaning, refinishing, waxing, polishing of floors and equipment, washing of walls, windows, furniture, maintain school site, in any building assigned.Be responsible for building security tasks as established for building or area.Assist in maintaining a level of cleanliness appropriate for a Parish and school.Work with office staff and ministries to coordinate facility reservation needs.Assist in removal of snow and grounds upkeep, with being available for after hours snow removal for church functions.Cooperate and help setup and take down furniture and equipment for school, athletic and community activities.Assist with maintaining and operating parish equipment such as carpet machinery, lawn equipment and vacuums. This maintenance does not include major repair but rather minor items such as belts, loose parts and routine maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.Be responsible for monitoring the mechanical-electrical equipment as directed and report malfunction of the same.Clean and dust assigned spaces, including fixtures, equipment and furniture in these rooms.
Collect and dispose of all refuse, collect recycling and place as necessary, and daily setup cleanup of lunch room.Summertime breakdown and deep cleaning of the building.Willingness to work overtime to cover absences and special events.Any other custodial duties as assigned.QualificationsThis job requires good physical condition due to the volume of lifting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and various other repetitive physical motions.Must be able to lift 60 lbs.Must have established a reputation of being honest, trustworthy and possess a high moral character.Ability to work will little supervision and take direction.Maintain a good appearance and attendance record (lack of tardiness) and have a positive attitude.Must show a willingness to cooperate and assist the building administrator with school and community activities.Prior knowledge/experience with facility maintenance including rough carpentry, painting, simple plumbing, electrical work, basic facility and equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.The candidate should be able to read written directions and literature in their field of understanding and be able to express themselves clearly, both orally and in writing.Excellent organizational skills and high regard for accuracy and safety.High-School diploma, college course work or equivalent experience preferred.Valid Michigan Driver's license.Respect for the nature of work in a pastoral and religious environment.
